My enemies want me to keep the country closed because of coronavirus so I lose the election - Donald Trump makes bizarre claim against 'fake news'

By Victor Isiguzo

US president Donald Trump, bizarrely accused the media which he regularly refers to as 'fake news' of wanting the coronavirus pandemic to continue as long as possible and paralyze the economy so he loses his November 2020 Presidential re-election.

Trump has staked his re-election bid on a strong U.S. economy but the stock market fell after business shut down and people stayed home to avoid spreading the coronavirus.

Trump, who has been berated by some media houses for his initial handling of the coronavirus outbreak in the US, advocated reopening businesses by Easter Sunday to help the falling U.S. economy but several medical experts have cautioned that could be too early to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

Now Trump suggests the fake news media is behind plans to instill fear and panic in Americans so the economy can be shut as long as possible and cause him to lose the forthcoming elections.

Trump complained on Twitter saying;

'I have been packed all day with meetings, I have no time for stupidity. We’re working around the clock to KEEP AMERICA SAFE!,' he wrote.

Trump then snapped back at a reporter who asked him about the issue.

'I think there are certain people who would like it not to open so quickly and they think that would be very good as far as defeating me at the polls,' he told CBS' Paula Reid in response to her question.

'There are people in your profession that would like that to happen. I think it's very clear -- I think it's very clear that there are people in your profession that write fake news,' he told her. 'You do.'

'They would love to see me for whatever reason because we've done one hell of a job,'

'Nobody's done the job we've done, and it's lucky you have this group here for this problem or you wouldn't even have a country left.'

Trump fired off another tweet to complain about his press coverage.

'The LameStream Media is the dominant force in trying to get me to keep our Country closed as long as possible in the hope that it will be detrimental to my election success. The real people want to get back to work ASAP. We will be stronger than ever before!,' he wrote.

SAD: Oshiomhole may be forced to resign as APC National Chairman

By Victor Isiguzo

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress(APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole may have had unholy alliance with leadership of his party while trying to get back his job after a Federal High Court in Abuja asked him to step down.

We gathered that the former Edo State governor is in a dilemma and he is between the devil and the deep blue sea if he fails to honour agreements reached especially with the governors and some elements in the presidency.

The first option of refusal for the incumbent governors of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki and Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu may be playing out as a wrong signal which may spark crisis any moment from now.

We gathered that the former Nigeria Labour Congress(NLC) president may have actually promised some party stalwarts the "carrot" as a deceit to get back to the driver's seat but never meant his words.

The situation seems to be boomeranging on him as on one side, the governors want him to keep his promise, while on the other hand, Oshiomhole cannot go to Benin to tell his followers that Governor Obaseki who pulled down their houses is the one to support.

"You can see that Oshiomhole is between the devil and the deep blue sea.

"He is in a dilemma, he will be worst humiliated if he goes to Edo to tell people to support Obaseki.

"The best option is that if he cannot pacify the governors to accept the reality that all candidates must go to the primaries, it is better he throws in the towel", a party bigwig remarked.

We gathered that Oshiomhole will never be forgiven by the numerous members of APC in Edo who fought alongside with him when the quagmire with Obaseki was fierce.

He said that Edo State will not be a safe place for the Etsako man whose political career would end abruptly.

"Oshiomhole will be forced to resign from all indications except he does the needful by being neutral", the source disclosed.

We also gathered that Oshiomhole is afraid of a possible gang up of the powerful opponents of Obaseki, former Edo deputy governor, Dr. Pius Odubu; former Edo SSG, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu; Engr. Chris Ogiemwonyi and Gen. Charles Airiavbere against him.

What I'm Going Through As Only Igbo Lawmaker In Lagos House Of Assembly- Hon. Jude Emeka Idimogu

By Victor Isiguzo

There are some personalities you meet for the first time and you instantly feel comfortable with them after spending only a few minutes in their presence – Hon. Jude Emeka Idimogu is one of such people. His humility and the warmness with which he relates to people around him make him easily one of the most accessible Legislators in the state today. But that is not what makes this gentleman politician tick. He is a man with an inspiring story. In 2015, the man affectionately called Abundance by those who know him closely dared to tread where no one else had ever tread. He contested for a seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly on the platform of PDP (before defecting to APC afterwards) in a part of Lagos (Oshodi-Isolo II) that had previously been controlled by the APC. And to make his quest even more daunting, he is not Yoruba. He is from Imo state and no politician of Igbo extraction had ever challenged a son of the soil (Yoruba) in Lagos for a political office and got anywhere with his ambition. But a confident Jude Idimogu never lost his faith and trust in God. He emerged winner and got the mandate of his constituent to be their representative at the 8th Legislative Assembly. WALE LAWAL, was a guest of the soft spoken Lawmaker weeks ago and got him to share his inspiring story.

Let us begin this way, sir, how did politics start for you?

Well, my name is Honourable Jude Emeka Idimogu, a Legislator representing Oshodi/Isolo constituency II. I am also called Abundance by those who know me very closely. I am a Roman Catholic by faith and I’m also a Knight. To the glory of God, I am a prominent member of my church and I don’t joke with my faith as a Catholic. I am a Chartered Accountant by Profession. My journey into politics wasn’t something I would say I planned from the very start. I was doing my business and doing very well too. My job involved meeting with people, getting their foreign exchange transactions sorted out and things were really okay. But in the course of doing my job, people were always complimenting me that I had a natural flair for relating very easily with people. They felt I had the ability to manage people very well and that I was good at marketing and so suggested I should consider going into politics someday. Then, when they made those comments I would laugh them off. But the comments and advice kept coming. I have always loved to make myself available to my immediate community. I am a man who enjoys being in the spotlight, being spoken about, for the right reasons. Politics, for me, was not something I was desperate about, but even then, I felt that if I was ready for politics I would have to go to my home town in the east. I am from Imo state. Although I have spent quite a long time in Lagos, about 37 years now, I still didn’t think that gave me any chance to give politics a shot here in Lagos. There now came a time when I had some spare time on my hands and I wasn’t as busy as I used to be. So, I thought to myself, why I don’t I give this thing a shot since people have continued to persuade me to do it. And besides, like I said earlier, I have always been involved in community activities. Whenever things needed to be done through communal efforts I would always stand up to be involved. In fact, I personally rehabilitated about two roads in my area with my own money and this was long before I joined politics. Go and do your findings and people will confirm to you what I’m saying.

So, how did you now finally get your political career started and what made you believe that as an Accountant, you had what it takes to manage people?

I will be honest with you, politics was not on my agenda at all, like I said earlier. But I have always believed and seen all human beings as political animals. In our everyday relationship with people, we practice politics. You market yourself. You sell yourself. My interest in politics did not become strong until I was involved in the creation of a professional body called the Bureau De Change Operators of Nigeria, South West Zone. For several years, I was the first vice chairman of the zone, and to achieve that took a lot of politicking. The task of coordinating our numerous members was my responsibility, so bit by bit I began to learn how to manage people. In my community, I was the chairman of the CDA for about eight years and I graded two roads all by myself before I ever thought of becoming a legislator. I eventually started serious politics with the PDP. Like I said earlier, I was considering going to my state to start politics, but I realized that after spending over 32 years then in Lagos and married to a Yoruba woman, I have become more or less a Yoruba man myself even though I still cannot speak the language as well as I would have loved to. And of course, I also asked leaders of the party if it was okay for me to join the race to be the party’s flag bearer at the state House of Assembly elections and they said, why not. But, my brother, it was not easy. There were lots of obstacles along the way. Some people were saying, ‘who is this okoro man? What is this omo Igbo trying to do in a Yoruba land? But I didn’t let all that side talks discourage me. What really helped me was that I had made a lot of philanthropic contributions to my community even when I didn’t know I was going to end up in politics. In my church, the same thing, I have done quite a lot on my own to aid the growth of the church long before I came out to contest. I was also the team manager of the football team of the church. This enabled me win over a lot of my people, majority of who are traders in the community, to my side. They all came out enmasse to support me. But I also got tremendous support from the Yorubas in the community as well. One man I will never forget is the Jagun of Isolo, Alhaji Kabiru Agbabiaka. He said it was only me, an Igbo man, out of all the contestants who recognized him and came to him for support and advice. And he promised me he would stand by me to the very end, which he did. Even though I have left PDP, we are still very good friends till today. This man stood by me and helped me reach out to other people who ordinarily would not have even allowed me bring my campaign to their doorstep because, remember, apart from the fact that I am not a Yoruba man, PDP had also never won an election in my area. So, everything just seemed stacked against me. All through the night leading to the primaries, my wife and I and this man were on the road, in the middle of the night lobbying people to endorse me. That’s one of the reasons why I don’t joke with my wife, she’s an amazing woman. She was driving her own car and I was driving mine, behind her, in the middle of the night. We were going from one place to the other, talking to people. My brother, it was not funny at all. I remember I even had an accident in the process that night. It was a bike accident but thankfully, I only sustained bruises, it didn’t stop me from pursuing my goal. And in the end, I won. But it was the outcome of the main election that shocked everyone. Do you know the man I was contesting against? He is the son of Lagos state APC chairman, Henry Ajomale! It was as a result of my popularity and philanthropic activities that made people vote for me. It was not an easy battle, I tell you, but at the end of the day, God’s will prevailed. God fought for me. My wife and a lot of people too tried for me.

Tell us a little about your wife, how did you meet her?

We actually met at a party held somewhere in Mushin. I had gone to the party with a friend who wanted to get me acquainted with a particular lady. But on getting there, I met the lady sitting beside another lady and I found that I liked and preferred the lady she was sitting with. But there was no problem because she didn’t know that I had actually come to meet her. So, I shifted my attention to the other lady and from there we became friends before she eventually became my wife. She was living in Lagos Island then. She is Ijebu, and she is from the popular Kuku family in Ijebu. Her name is Rosaline Idimogu.

What was the immediate attraction then? Why did you suddenly abandon the person you had gone to meet for her?

Her beauty. It was her beauty that attracted me first time, and I think also her carriage and composure. My wife is a pretty woman.

What was your wife’s reaction when you told her you wanted to contest for a seat at the House of Assembly?

Ah! Let me tell you the truth, I didn’t inform her oh. I was sure that if I told her she would discourage me. In fact, what I did was that I played a fast one on her. I just printed the banners, used her picture and my own and took it home and showed her. Naturally, she was shocked, but there was nothing she could do again. She knew that at that point, I had already gone far and she couldn’t talk me out of it. The reason why I used her picture on the poster was not only to give her no choice but to support me but also to woo supporters to my side so that when they see that I’m married to their daughter, a Yoruba girl, they will see me as their in-law, calm down a bit and give me a chance.

But seriously, sir, did you actually think you could win that election considering APC was in total control of Lagos state and to make matters more complicated, you are Igbo?

I won’t lie to you, I believed it was possible for me to win. Personally, I always believe that once you have God on your side and you work hard at achieving something, you will achieve it. The way I saw it was that the only issue I had was the fact that I am not a Yoruba man. I had all the qualities needed to contest the election, just like the other contestants, my ethnic background was the problem. Then, I summoned up courage and said after all, I have spent more than 30 years in Lagos and I’m now their in-law, so what else could be the problem? And from that point, I never looked back.

So, how has it been so far, now that you have gotten the mandate of the people to represent them?

Well, we thank God. It’s been great and it’s been challenging at the same time. The expectations of the people are quite high but slowly and steadily, we are doing the best we can.

How was it like when you first got to the House being the only Igbo man in the fold?

Let me be candid with you, contrary to what people were expecting, the situation was exactly the opposite. There was no hostility, no coldness towards me. Everybody welcomed me. They accepted me whole heartedly into the House, despite the fact that I was not APC and to make matters worse, I was an Igbo man. From my colleagues to Mr. Speaker and even former governor Ambode, everyone welcomed me with open arms. And I became quite popular almost immediately because everyone of them would refer to me as omo Ibo and we would all laugh over it. Another thing that also made it easy for them to accept me was that I humbled myself before them. I didn’t go with the mindset that I was coming to drag issues with them. I will never forget the reception and love they showed me when I joined the House. If I needed anything and went to the Speaker, he would give me audience and assist me to sort out whatever I’d gone to see him for. Same with former Governor Ambode, he was always warm to me and ready to give me assistance in whatever form I was asking for. And to think I was still in PDP then. To tell you the truth, these were some of the reasons why I decided to join APC.

What were the other reasons why you left PDP then?

Well, like you must have known, the party was embroiled in a lot of crises then. It was like a house divided against itself. Another reason was that I thought about how difficult it would be for me to get things done for my people since PDP was no longer the ruling party. When Jonathan lost the elections it was really tough for me. You remember that the presidential elections came before our own, so when he lost, I thought it was over, that there was no way I would win. But as God would have it, I won. Then, shortly afterwards, I began to think, how can I effectively bring the dividends of democracy to my people if I’m not with the ruling party? Knowing the way the average Nigerian thinks, would they understand if I start telling them stories that the reason they have not been feeling my impact as their legislator is because PDP is not the ruling party? Is that what they want to hear? Then, I now looked at it, if the APC can be showing me this kind of love and giving me this sort of support even as a PDP member, won’t me and my constituency benefit more if I join them? So, yes, I would say they made it easy for me to leave the PDP and I’ve not regretted the move ever since.

How did members of your constituent, especially your kinsmen, take your defection to APC at the time?

Naturally, they didn’t take it well at first. But I took time to explain to them. I organized town hall meetings, met with different groups and let them understand that it was for the good of the community and the constituent at large. We needed to align with the power at the centre, which in this case is APC, to be able to enjoy the dividends of democracy. Aligning with the ruling party would make the work easy for me to achieve, otherwise, the same people would be the one asking me after my first term, what have you achieved?

Court of Appeal reinstates Ifeanyi Ubah after being sacked as Senator

A Court of Appeal in Abuja has reinstated Ifeanyi Ubah as Senator representing Anambra South senatorial district after being sacked by a federal high court.

The judgement was delivered after Senator Ifeanyi Ubah filed an appeal, challenging his sack from the National Assembly. A three-man panel of the court led by Justice Stephen Adah, was unanimous that the judgement delivered by Justice Bello Kawu was a nullity on grounds that the originating process was incompetent having not been signed by a lawyer as required; the judgment was given without jurisdiction.

The panel which also held that Ifeanyi Ubah was denied fair hearing by the FCT High Court, stressed that the Court was without the requisite territorial jurisdiction to have entertained the case.

A perpetual injunction restraining the Clerk of the Senate and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from acting on the April 11, 2019 judgment was issued by the Appeal Court, after it was voided for being a nullity.

APC and PDP battle on Twitter over deadly Coronavirus pandemic

APC and PDP, the two major political parties in Nigeria, battled it out on Twitter over the Coronavirus crisis.

It began with the All Progress Congress calling out the People's Democratic Party for the "senseless" rally that was held in Oyo State at a time when the world is battling the COVID-19 pandemic that requires social distancing.

APC slammed PDP, adding that the political group is "incapable of applying itself to rules and common sense".

And PDP fired back, accusing APC of playing politics with the COVID-19 rather than seeking solution to the deadly virus.

2023 ELECTIONS: I Will Contest For President, If Tinubu Decides To Contest, Says Bode George

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former Deputy National Chairman of the party, Chief Olabode George, has declared his readiness to contest for 2023 presidency if national leader of the All Progressive Congress, APC Bola Tinubu decides to contest.

He said this while reacting to the speculations that the APC will zone the Presidency to the South-West so that the former Governor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu can contest For president come 2023.

He said; "Tinubu should not be the president of Nigeria because he is not a good manager of resources and has no respect for the poor"

"Why? Because we all experienced what he did as a manager of this state. Whatever it takes, if he comes out, I’ll fight against him".

"To be assertive and to confirm, I am very much interested in the presidential race"

Asked if he had a personal disagreement with Tinubu, George said he just disapproves of the national leader’s methodology and has no personal issues.

“There is nothing personal. It is just about his methodology, his system of governance, the lack of respect for the poor people of this country.

“My major interest is not in being a candidate or becoming the president of Nigeria but finding a solution to various challenges plaguing the country,” George added"

Purchasing the Emir throne : Fresh Controversy Emerge between Governor and New Emir of Kano.

A new controversy emerges between Gov. Ganduje and the new Emir of Kano over "you received from me and yet you disappointed me" saga.

A source from the emirate council revealed that Nasiru Ado Bayero denied his appointment as Emir of Bichi on some controversial circumstances, Dabo fm reported.

One of the reasons was that he(Nasiru Ado Bayero) gave some heavy amounts of money to the government and those to mastermind his appointment as Emir of Kano, not as emir of Bichi.

The source confirms that Nasiru Ado Bayero claims that he have all relevant proofs on the amount of money he paid to acquire (purchase) the throne of kano, where he even requested that he should be paid back his money or transfered his position to Kano emirate as emir of Kano, as sourced from Dabo fm.

Meanwhile, the source said that there is even exist the plan for the removal of some key senior officials of the emirate (Wazirin Kano and Distritc heads) by the new Kano Emirate.

It was known that before the demise of former Emir Ado Bayero, he made the appointment of Wazirin Kano(Nasir Muhd Nasir) that does not goes well with the government, and results to his removal.

On creation of the new emirates, and aftermath of the removal of some key officials of kano emirate by the emirate which includes Makaman Kano and Sarkin Dawaki mai tuta, it was gathered that the affected officials keep on frequenting the Kano emirate, and the dethroned emir Sanusi II keep on paying them their dues as they did not comply with the creation of the new emirates by the state government initially.

On this regard, the source said that Kano emirate will make new appointments of this senior officials position, as their seats are considered vacant by the state government.

Like Alawe Disrespected Aalafin He Refused To Disrespect Ooni of Ife.

Like Alawe Disrespected Aalafin He Refused To Disrespect Ooni of Ife

The hierarchy of Oba (traditional rulers) in Yoruba is not by age but stool and history.

It is no longer news that Ekiti State Governor had got himself into issues with the Pelupelu Obas in the state, many who are ranking Obas in Yoruba land.

The Aalafin of Oyo on behalf of foremost traditional rulers interfered and call the attention of the Ekiti State governor not to disrespect the Obas. Aalafin claimed is letter was written after consultation with foremost Obas in Yoruba land and the name of Ooni was boldly written on it.

Alawe of ILAWE who the foremost Yoruba traditional rulers feel should not have been appointed chairman immediately write to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State to caution Aalafin while also throwing some shades at Aalafin but instead governor Seyi went to the Aalafin to pay homage and discard Alawe's letter and the Ekiti state governor also left Ekiti to visit the Aalafin to explain things to him.

One would have wondered why Alawe did not attack Ooni after his name was boldly written on the letter.

The Ooni even went to Ewi's Palace of Ado Ekiti to see the Obas before they all went to Ekiti State government's house to have meeting with the governor and Prof. Akintoye, the leader of the Yoruba World Congress.

This is still a surprise as the Alawe of ILAWE have refused to attack Ooni who had not only signed a letter to refer him as junior king but also visited his state to settle issues.

APC Crisis: How 11 govs stand against 4 out of 18 on Oshiomhole removal

As legal fireworks and politicking wax stronger in the APC following the conspiracy to kick out its national chairman Adams Oshiomhole, groups and power blocs within the party are now taking position—publicly.

Obviously, the party national leader Bola Tinubu and President Muhammadu Buhari aren’t going to turn their back on their Man Friday.

Tinubu’s public statement on Sunday came down hard on the rebels in the APC who sponsored Victor Giadom, an ex-national secretary, to scramble for Oshiomhole’s job when there are vice chairmen.

Buhari’s decision to put off the Tuesday NEC meeting, a decision which allowed Oshiomhole to swing back to action after a period of suspension by an FCT court, also indicated the president has a soft spot for Oshiomhole. The suspension was upturned yesterday by the Appeal Court in Abuja.

For Buhari’s decision, the embattled chairman has Tinubu to thank .

A source within the Villa told a newspaper how Buhari decided to listen to Tinubu’s voice of reason over the matter.

All of that happened in Abuja on Monday, including the near-violent meeting the APC governors had with Buhari before they all decided to call off the NEC meeting. An anti-Oshiomhole Kebbi Gov. Atiku Bagudu, who is also chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, was going to outsmart his colleagues by reading a cooked-up communique. Then freshman Gov Hope Uzodinma, ever grateful to Oshiomhole, stood up to Bagudu, calling that action fraudulent.

So Buhari asked them to shelf the NEC meeting.

However, the governors’ positions became clearer.

On Oshiomhole’s side are most of the first timers and Tinubu’s boys in the southwest: Lagos Babjide Sanwo Olu, Osuns Oyetola Gboyega,  and Ogun’s Dapo Abiodun. Likewise in the southeast: Hope Uzodinma. Ditto for the northeast: Babagana  Zulum.

Against him are Gov. Bagudu, his Ondo counterpart Rotimi Akeredolu,  Jigawa Gov. Abubakar Badaru, and Oshiomhole’s godson and archenemy Godwin Obaseki.

The outgoing APC governors—Ekiti, Kaduna, Kano, Kogi, Katsina, Gombe, and others in their second term—are trying to play elders by not showing where they stand yesterday—though they have their positions.

Certainly, Kano Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje, an ally of Tinubu and Buhari, belongs to the Oshiomhole camp. The pre-NEC meeting of the pro-Oshiomhole group held in Kano’s governor’s lodge in Abuja. Most of the northwestern governors actually align this way, including Gombe’s Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya.

Mid-north, Kogi Gov. Yahaya Bello has publicly declared he doesn’t belong in the Oshiomhole-must-go camp. His north-central counterpart Kwara Gov. AbdulRahaman Abdul Razaq is also pro-Oshiomhole.

Govs Kayode Fayemi and Nasir el Rufai are some sorts of wild cards in the party. But for their closeness to Aso Rock and Buhari, both of them may sympathize with Oshiomhole. Again, looking at their ambition, real or imagined, for the 2023 presidency, these two may want to turf Oshiomhole out of the national secretariat in Abuja. He’s believed to be working for the biggest of the 2023 dreamers: Tinubu.

Other Buhari’s diehards that align with Oshiomhole are Katsina Gov. Aminu Masari, and Plateau’s Simon Lalong.

Members of the non-alignment group include Niger Gov. Abubakar Sani Bello, Nasarawa’s Abdulahi Sule, and Gov. Mai Bala Buni of Yobe.

As things stand now, Oshiomhole has 11 of the 19 APC governors forming a phalanx around him. The anti-Oshiomhole group has four. Three others are perching on the fence while two can swing either way.

Governors, especially in their forums are most ruthless when it comes to hard tackles. If they decide what happens to the APC chairmanship, then Oshiomhole is almost home and dry.

PETER FATOMILOLA: If Anyone Will Interfere In Monarch Matters, It Should Be Ooni And Not Alaafin.

A Nigerian dramatist, film actor, poet and prolific playwriter, Peter Fatomilola also a tutor of Yoruba language and culture has said Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III wasn't in position to intefere in Ekiti Monarch Issue.

His interference in the matter is what we can relate to when someone poke_nose to what doesn't even concerns him.

While given instances for Alaafin actions, he assume it to a case whereby a governor in Ekiti state want to govern in Oyo state which can never be possible. Even if he try that, definitely, the Outcome will be a great embarrassment.

Furthermore, he said "Assuming a monarch like Ooni of Ife try such, it would have been a welcome development, because he is the leader of all monarch in the Yoruba Monarchy".

The reporter then asked; Considering the Age of Alaafin, Do you think he still don't have that privilege to take such steps?, he responded; "Yes of course, age doesn't matter in governance".

He also advice the Ekiti State Governor, Fayemi, never to dethrone any of the monarch. He added that, each monarch has right under the constitution to against the governor who introduce a king who doesn't worth leading them in the "PELU_PELU" group of Ekiti kingdom.

"only highly respected kings like the Elekole of Ikole, Ajero of Ijero, Alara of Ilara and Ewi of Ado etc, can only lead the Pelupelu group".

Osho-Virus behind APC crisis - VON DG, Osita Okechukwu replies Tinubu

Osho-Virus behind APC crisis - VON DG, Osita Okechukwu replies Tinubu

The Director-General of the Voice of Nigeria, Mr. Osita Okechukwu has blamed suspended National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Adams Oshiomhole over the crisis rocking the party.

Okechukwu who had a face-off with Oshiomhole prior to the 2019 election, served the response after APC Chieftain, Bola Tinubu who declared support for the embattled APC Chairman accused his colleagues with aspirations ahead of the 2023 elections of fueling the crisis.

Recalling how APC delegates unanimously and consensually elected the former Edo State Governor as the Chairman of the party two years ago, the VON DG stated that it is quite sad that Adams Oshiomhole is now a bull in a China Shop.

Okechukwu said;

“As passionate and loyal members of the APC at the grassroots level, they hitherto held Oshiomhole in high esteem and had high expectations of optimum performance and quality leadership from him.

“It is, therefore, with deep regret that two years down the line, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, now a Bull in a China Shop, in utter disregard to the high expectations of the responsibility entrusted on him, and the constitution of the APC has today committed without remorse or introspection 10 monumental cardinal sins against our great party, APC.

“If there is a virus as our revered Asiwaju proclaimed? It is more of Osho-Virus than 2023 Virus.”

Here are "10 Osho-Virus blunders" he listed in his statement;

“Revival and Resurrection of collapsing Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) structure, a political party, which in 2018 was ravaged by intra-party feud, to win more states like Adamawa, Bauchi, Zamfara, and Sokoto, all strongholds of APC.

“Brazen Incompetence: Second revival of PDP is evidenced in the Bayelsa State imbroglio. It is our considered belief that no sane national chairman of a prominent political party would submit the name of an incumbent Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to be Deputy Governor, without evaluating the strategic cost to the party. Most importantly lack of diligent scrutiny of essential documents of candidates, or One Man-Show, points to Osho-Virus crass negligence and incompetence.

“Flagrant breach of APC’s Constitution via elevation of crass dictatorship and deceptively masquerading Sole Proprietorship of APC in the guise of Almighty Party Supremacy. We sincerely doubt whether Comrade Oshiomhole has taken time to peruse APC’s Constitution, for if he has done, he could have been less narcissistic, less despotic and more collegiate in managing the party. For it is only Super Kings or despots that can impose national officers of the party in clear breach of APC’s Constitution.

“Manipulating, Corrupting and Mangling the 2018 APC gubernatorial and legislative primary elections. Is it 2023 that made Comrade Oshiomhole to mismanage our primary? Is it 2023 that made Comrade Oshiomhole to nearly shunt Asiwaju who made him governor and chairman, by covertly printing ballot papers to favour Ambode for Lagos gubernatorial primary?

“Employing Double Standards- It is on record that Comrade Oshiomhole in his infinite self-survival-instinct ratified the Lagos gubernatorial primary election and which was not conducted by the APC Gubernatorial Primary Panel set up by him, but by Asiwaju’s men and did not ratify that conducted by Senator Amosu’s men at Ogun State? Is this kind of atrocity 2023 Virus or Osho-Virus?

“Secondly, Comrade ordered State Chapters to choose between Direct and Indirect methods of primary election only to change the choice made by States depending on his whims and caprices. For instance, he changed that of Enugu State from indirect to direct in the midst of gubernatorial election.

“Thirdly, is 2023 or Osho-Virus responsible for favours Comrade dispenses at will, ‘That Elrufia was the one who came to me crying to help him get rid of Shehu Sani and to replace him with his boy, Uba Sani and I sacrificed my comradeship with Shehu to please him’ – Comrade Oshiomhole said himself.

“In his classical double standard paradigm he glossed over his suspension by his Ward, whereas he ratified that of Ward suspension of Barrister Inua Abdulkadir, vice chairman North West. Is that 2023 or Osho-Virus?

“Covert use of the 2018 primary elections to empower his Edo Peoples Movement (EPM) native political structure. Not only did EPM members populate all state panels more than any other state, but they also headed about 10, as well as the most revered Appeal Panel. This way he not only violated the Federal Character Principle, but also denied most states the golden opportunity of heading at least one panel. Is this gross nepotism 2023-Virus?

“Insincerity: Comrade Oshiomhole celebrated the abolition of Godfatherism in Edo State only to paradoxically deploy his handgun, the Edo Peoples Movement in a vain glorious plot to become Godfather. Is this 2023 or Osho-Virus?

“Erosion of Buhari’s 12 Million Vote-Bank – Comrade Oshiomhole often displayed wanton narcissism and rascality in his dealings with state governors, members of NWC and party stakeholders by dishing out impulsive orders he could not condone when in office as governor; if not stopped, he will erode APC the famous Buhari’s 12 Million Vote-Bank, especially when Mr President will not be on the ballot in 2023.

“Squandermania: Haphazard expenditure of party funds, such that more than 14 Billion realized from Presidential, Gubernatorial and Legislative Primary Fees remain unaccounted for. Render Account now Comrade Oshiomhole!”

The VON DG concluded by pleading with "President Muhammadu Buhari, the foremost leader of our great party, His Excellencies, Governors, Distinguished Senators, Honourable Members of National and State Assemblies and distinguished members of the National Executive Committee (NEC) to Save the Soul of APC from further unknown consequences of Osho-Virus damage and destruction. He is a Bull in a China Shop.”

Nigerians react as Russian President Signs Law Allowing to be in Power for Another 16 Years.

The Russian President, Vladimir Putin, has signed a law that potentially allows him to remain in authority until 2036. Putin who has been president for 20 years, having ruled Russia since the year 2000, have taken it upon himself that Russia still needs him for another decade.

The amendment was signed on Saturday and it comprises the stipulation that enables Putin to seek for re-election as against the current law which would disallows him for running for president in 2024.

Putin earlier proposed an amendment for the constitution seeking to redefine marital concepts in a manner that also places a ban on gay marriages ahead of a referendum on April 22.

According to intel, the amendment contains almost 400 changes amongst which is one that would restart the counting of Putin’s presidential terms, and also positions him for another two more six-year terms.

The 67-year-old president had already served two four-year terms as president from 2000 to 2008 before the presidential term was later extended to six years, seeing him get re-elected in 2012 and 2018.

Putin had introduced the amendment in a “last-minute proposal” to the 68-page bill on Tuesday, after which it was approved in the lower and upper house and also passed in regional parliaments.

It is believed that other changes potentially strengthen the presidency and emphasizes the priority of Russian law over international norms.

“These amendments are long overdue, they are needed, and I am sure they will be useful for society, for our citizens… because we have had enough of revolutions,” Putin reportedly said.

Obviously, this didn't go well for Nigeriansn who saw it as power intoxication.

When popular news site, The Cable Nigeria, broke this news via their verified twitter account, Nigerians as usual, trooped out calling the president all sorts of names.

One user went ahead and referred to him as "the white Mugabe". Others said he is probably from Africa and has African blood.

Here are some tweets below:

We hope this doesn't spark up a war in Russia as this might not go well for some people.

President Buhari Warns South West Governor Over Distraction Of His Administration, APC

It is no longer news that the leader of All Progressives Congress(APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu has not hidden the fact that the crisis in the ruling party is caused by interest in the 2023 General Elections which he likened to corona virus.

Tinubu made it clear that the president is being distracted by people whose selfish ambition is overriding national interest.

As the former Lagos State Governor spoke on Sunday, our investigations revealed that there are three influential Nigerians who continued to drop President Muhammadu Buhari's name to cause crisis in the APC.

We gathered that they are two current serving governors and a minister who drop the president's name at every gathering of the party members to throw havoc.

They said their activities had immensely caused the damage.

The governors are one each from the North and South and a former governor from South who is a serving minister fingered to be the ringleaders and the ones Jagaban talked about on Sunday, though he failed to mention names .

According to party sources, the governor from the North, is from one of the states in the North West, who sees himself as the chosen one to occupy the office of the president or at worst, vice president come 2023, while the governor from the South is from the South West Geopolitical Zone of the country.

The minister who has never hidden his hatred for the National Chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomhole and has always been in confrontation with him is from the South South.

The source disclosed: "These are the persons Senator Ahmed Tinubu said are distracting President Buhari.

"They know themselves and the president now knows them, he is very annoyed with their activities", he said.

He revealed that President Buhari had already invited the South West Governor and warned him seriously against the distraction of his administration and the ruling party.

There’s evidence Army, DSS intimidated voters, electoral officials and election observers during 2019 election – US

There?s evidence Army, DSS intimidated voters, electoral officials and election observers during 2019 election ? US

The United States government has claimed that there is sufficient evidence to support allegation of operatives of the Nigerian army and Department of State Services intimidating voters, electoral officials and election observers during 2019 general election.

In its 2019 country reports on human rights practices, the US Department of State insisted that the 2019 election which did not encourage enough voter participation was marred by violence and other irregularities, particularly in the Southern part of the country.

The report partly read;

“There was evidence military and security services intimidated voters, electoral officials, and election observers. In addition violence in several states contributed to lower voter participation and added to the sentiment the army is a tool of the ruling party in many parts of the country, particularly in the South.

“For example, widespread violence and military involvement in electoral processes, including during the vote collation process, significantly scarred the governorship election in Rivers State. Additionally several of INEC’s resident electoral commissioners (RECs) reported DSS operatives intimidated them when the RECs attempted to protect voting materials.

“Some RECs reported security service personnel visited them multiple times prior to the elections. Press reported certain RECs claimed the DSS was surveilling the RECs and that they had been brought to DSS offices for questioning."

The 46-page report which further claimed that vote-buying were historically high during the 2018-19 electoral season especially in Kano and Osun State, stated that the Nigerian judiciary is still susceptible to intimidation by the executive and the legislative arms of government.

It further stated that the corruption in the judiciary backed with the poor pay judicial officers get, has hindered the third arm of government from functioning independently. The US Department of State also averred that judges are easily bribed in Nigeria and litigants cannot rely on the courts to render impartial judgments.

It added;

“Although the constitution and law provide for an independent judiciary, the judicial branch remained susceptible to pressure from the executive and legislative branches. Political leaders influenced the judiciary, particularly at the state and local levels.

“Understaffing, underfunding, inefficiency, and corruption prevented the judiciary from functioning adequately. There are no continuing education requirements for attorneys, and police officers were often assigned to serve as prosecutors. Judges frequently failed to appear for trials. In addition, the salaries of court officials were low, and they often lacked proper equipment and training.

“Although the Ministry of Justice implemented strict requirements for education and length of service for judges at the federal and state levels, no requirements or monitoring bodies existed for judges at the local level. This contributed to corruption and the miscarriage of justice in local courts."

Alaafin Of Oyo Shuts Up Olugbo Akinruntan In Supremacy Battle With Ooni Of Ife

Eniola Ajayi

Alaafin Of Oyo Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi has shut up the Olugbo of Ugbo Oba Obateru Akinruntan in his supremacy squabble with the Ooni of Ife Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.

The Alaafin while addressing a matter not directly connected with the rift released a list of the most rated kings in Yoruba land.

The Ugbo king was nowhere to be seen in the list with the Ooni copying the uppermost portion of the list of 7 seven.

The ranking of the traditional rulers is contained in the letter the Alaafin wrote to the Governor of Ekiti state Kayode Fayemi chiding him for issuing a query to rated traditional for not attending ‘’ meetings’’.

The Alaafin had written Governor Kayode on the need to thread softly against the traditional rulers who refused to attend traditional council meetings with a subordinate King as Chairman.

In the letter to Fayemi, the Alaafin specifically listed the ranking thrones in Yoruba land namely the Alaafin of Oyo, Ooni of Ife, Awujale of Ijebuland, Alake of Egbaland, Owa of Obokun, Oragun of Ila and Olu of Ilaro as those of the ‘’prominent traditional rulers in Yoruba land’’

‘’The list with Olugbo conspicuously missing effectively puts a lid on Oba Akinrutan’s claims of greater relevance than the Ooni’’ a source pointed out.

I would win in court if I decide to challenge my dethronement, but I don’t want to return – Sanusi Lamido Sanusi

Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has stated that he is sure about winning in court if he decides to challenge his dethronement as Emir of Kano by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.

In a footage recorded at Awe in Nasarawa State after a federal high court ruling that freed him from detention on Friday March 11, Sanusi stated that all he needs is fair hearing. He also disclosed that his dethronement letter was badly written and quite unprofessional.

The Ekiti sate University has again retrains the dethroned Emir Sanusi as a Chancellor. The state government said it will retain the Emir as the Chancellor of the state-owned university.

A letter signed by the vice-chancellor was sent to the Emir from the university management showing the confirmation and retention of Sanusi as the Chancellor of EKSU.

The letter reads: " we will continue to recognise you as our Chancellor with a firm belief that your wealth of experience would undoubtedly be beneficial to our university. "

" The news of your dethronement rendered the entire university community devastated and has gone to confirm the assertion that only God gives and at the same time relieves, if he so wishes."

" The university acknowledge the fact that you had done your best within the limited time God availed you on the throne. "

"...we will also like to reassure you of our unflinching support and cooperation as you traverse a new terrain."

It is a known fact that Sanusi cannot suffer. I had predicted it the first day of his dethronement that appointments await him even international and I believe this is just the beginning.

Kano is not a cage - President Buhari and Governor Ganduje's aides react to cartoon on Sanusi’s dethronement

President Buhari and Governor Ganduje's aides have reacted to a cartoon on Sanusi's dethronement which showed a Ganduje-like character in a cage captioned 'Kano'.
The cartoon drawn by Mustapha Bulama of Daily Trust showed a Ganduje-like character locking up the cage, while another character representing Sanusi walks away saying ‘you can stay there.’
However reacting to the cartoon, Director-General of Media and Communications for Kano state government, Salihu Tanko-Yakasai stated that the cartoon is a mockery and insult to the entire people. He added that Kano is not a cage, but a state with a thousand year old history.
Salihu tweeted;
I see this as a mockery & insult to the entire people of Kano. Kano is NOT a cage, its a state with a thousand year old history, that has engaged in trade & commerce with the entire world for centuries, that has produced great leaders & scholars, Kano will continue to be GREAT.
