Like Alawe Disrespected Aalafin He Refused To Disrespect Ooni of Ife
The hierarchy of Oba (traditional rulers) in Yoruba is not by age but stool and history.
It is no longer news that Ekiti State Governor had got himself into issues with the Pelupelu Obas in the state, many who are ranking Obas in Yoruba land.
The Aalafin of Oyo on behalf of foremost traditional rulers interfered and call the attention of the Ekiti State governor not to disrespect the Obas. Aalafin claimed is letter was written after consultation with foremost Obas in Yoruba land and the name of Ooni was boldly written on it.
Alawe of ILAWE who the foremost Yoruba traditional rulers feel should not have been appointed chairman immediately write to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State to caution Aalafin while also throwing some shades at Aalafin but instead governor Seyi went to the Aalafin to pay homage and discard Alawe's letter and the Ekiti state governor also left Ekiti to visit the Aalafin to explain things to him.
One would have wondered why Alawe did not attack Ooni after his name was boldly written on the letter.
The Ooni even went to Ewi's Palace of Ado Ekiti to see the Obas before they all went to Ekiti State government's house to have meeting with the governor and Prof. Akintoye, the leader of the Yoruba World Congress.
This is still a surprise as the Alawe of ILAWE have refused to attack Ooni who had not only signed a letter to refer him as junior king but also visited his state to settle issues.
