The Federal govt will on Monday, March 16, 2020 arraign Dr Obinna Uzoh, his lawyer Eziafa Samuel Enwedo, Anani Anacletus, Aroh Ifunanya and others at large before Justice Okon Abang of the federal high court Abuja.
Dr Obinna Uzoh and others are facing criminal charges of forgery, perjury and doctoring of court documents.
It could be recalled that Dr Obinna Uzoh paraded a court judgement which ordered INEC to issue a certificate of return to him as the duly elected senator for Anambra south senatorial zone. The judgement which was purportedly delivered on April 2019 ordered the sack of Senator Dr Ikemba Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah
However, a twist was discovered when police began an investigation following a discovery from the court files that the said judgement purported to have been delivered on April 2019 was actually backdated.
Investigation shows that the court process actually started on September 2019 but was criminally backdated to April 2019 so it could be a pre election matter, when it was actually a post election matter since the National assembly election took place on February 23, 2019.
Further investigation shows that all documents relating to the purported judgement were fake. Some were either mutilated, forged or defaced.
For instance, on October 16, 2019, Anani Anacletus who is the plaintiff filed an application to discontinue the suit. An in his application, Anani Anacletus told the court that the case in question was yet to be mentioned as at Oct 16, 2019.
It then became a mystery how a case yet to be mentioned as at October 16, 2019 got a judgement entered on April 2019.
Police is also asking to know how a case in which the court fees were paid on September 2019 had a judgement delivered on April 2019.
These discoveries led to the arrest of Barr Eziafa Samuel Enwedo, while Obinna Uzoh, Aroh Ifunanya, Anani Anacletus and others went into hiding.
With conclusion of investigation by the police, Dr Obinna Uzoh and his co-conspirators will be arraigned before Justice Okon Abang on Monday.
