Following a week-long tirade by Nigerians, including high-ranking Senators, the President of Nigeria, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) has finally addressed Nigerians via his Twitter account on the Coronavirus pandemic.
Recall that the President was criticized for not addressing the citizens of the country unlike his counterparts in many other countries battling the virus. Some of these countries include Canada, United States of America, South Africa, Ghana and Iran.
The President has now sent a message of encouragement to Nigerians through his official Twitter account. In the tweet, he said the Ministry of Health and Nigeria Center for Disease Control was working nonstop to ensure that Nigerians were protected from the virus.
His statement has since drawn the ire of many Nigerians on Twitter who claim that he had only 2.1 million followers on Twitter and a Television and radio broadcast would be a better channel to reach the remaining 188 million citizens who are not on social media.
Here are some of the reactions to his Twitter address:
What are your thoughts? Do you think the Twitter address is enough? Would you rather he makes a TV or radio broadcast? Let us know in the comments section.
