Indeed former Nigerian President General Olusegun Obasanjo is a man who lives his life teaching valuable lessons.
He has taken it upon himself to symbolically teach Northerners that unlike them, Yorubas do not treat their monarchs like garbage but reserve for them the highest respect. Obasanjo did this by prostrating before the monarch of his home town Abeokuta, Agura of Gbagura.
In terms of earthly prominence, Obasanjo can well be described as a colossus before whose achievements the Oba must go pale. What more, the age difference between the two is almost a decade with the ex-president being the older.
With the recent humiliation of Lamido Sanusi, a monarch of Northern extraction, Nigerians from other parts of the country are coming forth to declare their highest respect for their traditional monarch.
Indeed going by culture and tradition the monarch is superior to everybody who originates from places within his power and influence regardless of his status in the larger society.
Nigerians are therefore commending Obasanjo for recognizing the sacredness of traditional monarchs as demanded by culture which he demonstrated by going down flat for the monarch of his home town.
