Yemi Osinbajo, Vice President of Nigeria
A police inspector assigned to the convoy of the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has died in a car accident on an official trip to Abuja on Today Friday, March 13, 2020.
An emailed statement to the Trent, signed by Laolu Akande, the vice president's spokesperson, revealed that the dead of police officer is Ali Gomina and that he was 45 years old.
Vice President Osinbajo interrupted his planned trip after the car accident. The statement did not reveal where the vice president is going.
"With sadness in our hearts, we announce the death of a police escort in the convoy of Vice President, Inspector Ali Gomina, 45, who was involved in a traffic accident while carrying out his official duties today." Read a short statement.
"The accident happened on the way to Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. The Vice President, who is very saddened by this occurrence, has canceled the planned trip.
Vice President described Ali as a diligent, hardworking and serious officer who would be missed by the team. He survived his wife, children and relatives." The vice president prayed for the eternal peace of Gomina's soul.
Prof. Yemi Osinbajo survived twice in five years when his helicopters were destroyed. The latter was during the 2019 election season in Kogi State, Nigeria.
